Ntiva E-mail Security Service
NESS is Ntiva's fully managed email protection service, eliminating up to 99% of user's spam. It is a powerful and flexible service that enables organizations of any size to manage email communications with the same level of control and protection as the Fortune 500. No hardware or software is required and a free 30-day trial is available to evaluate our service risk-free.
Inbound and Outbound Email Protection
The NESS filtering system is continually updated 2,000-4,000 times per day to ensure protection from even the newest Spammer tricks and tactics. It works on multiple platforms and utilizes proprietary detection systems, 4 virus-scanning engines, more than 60 filtering techniques, and wave-front detection to rid inbound and outbound email from spam, worms and viruses as well as protocol-based vulnerabilities.
Daily Held Mail Reports
Perhaps one of our most popular features is our Held Mail Reports. Even the most effective solutions will occasionally stop a valid message. When this happens, NESS users can instantly release the message by using their daily Held Mail Report. This detailed report can be enabled per end-user and provides them with 100% visibility to all their mail that has been held as spam, or "junk." Web access to the quarantined email is also available to administrators or end-users.
If a client-side server is not accepting email for any reason, such as internet connection failures, power outages, natural disaster, internal routing problems, mail server hardware or software failures, NESS's delivery manager will encrypt and queue email until the client server is back online.
Easy to Implement
Complete implementation of the Ntiva NESS system can be achieved in just one hour. As an ASP solution, there is no hardware or software required. Successful implementation is as simple as changing MX records within your DNS for each domain that requires filtering services.
Step 1. Perimeter Protection: NESS intercepts messages before they reach the clients infrastructure to prevent high impact attacks such as Denial of Service (DOS) and Directory Harvesting programs from stealing email processing resources.
Step 2. Redundant Server Set: NESS uses an array of redundant servers to ensure that at least one server will always be available to deliver mail. Each server set is equipped with Ntiva's proprietary Spam detection system that utilizes more than 60 types of filtering techniques. All servers also contain multiple anti-virus engines and proprietary detection systems that rid incoming email of worms, viruses, phishing attempts and other protocol-based vulnerabilities.
Step 3. Virus Scanning: In today's world, viruses are the favorite tool used by spammers to enable the mass delivery of spam. Ntiva uses three anti-virus engines which are updated every 10 minutes to ensure the signature databases are current. Ntiva's own wave-front detection system is used to identify and block unknown viruses providing an extra layer of virus protection. Emails that fail any of the anti-virus tests are routed to the Virus Quarantine for review by the system administrators.
Step 4. Spam Trap: The Ntiva Spam Filtering system uses the results from a blend of leading spam identification techniques to determine whether a message is legit or belongs in the Spam Quarantine. Some of these tests include internal and external RBL checks, routing analysis, signature and heuristic content inspection and reputation review. Drawing on our worldwide spam traps the system is updated between 500 and 2500 times per day providing consistent spam capture rates of up to 99%.
Messages that are identified as spam or containing a virus are parked in Ntiva's offsite Spam or Virus Quarantine. The detained emails can be viewed and/or released by administrators or individuals users depending on the configuration selected by the administrator. User-level logins as well as email reports eliminate anxiety over potential false positives and optionally allow tracked message releases.
Step 5. Delivery Manager/Store and Forward Service: Because uninterrupted email service is now a requirement for most businesses, Ntiva's Delivery Manager protects your business from unexpected interruptions - natural, accidental, malicious or otherwise. Delivery Manager components include:
- Store and Forward Buffering
- Load Balancing
- Email Delivery Fail-over Support
- Emergency Mail Service
Each element increases the resiliency and control of email architecture - one of the most visible and sensitive enterprise applications.
Step 6. Delivery to Your Network: Our ultimate goal is to deliver spam-free, virus-free email messages to your network. Our six step process prevents spammers from capturing an innocent email server for their dirty work of relaying spam and viruses, and enables clients to utilize email as the communication tool for which it was created.
Make Your Email Spam-Free and Virus-Free with Ntiva E-mail Security Service: Ntiva provides businesses with simple, yet powerful, email security. We focus on making all of our solutions uncomplicated for the clients to implement, while at the same time developing effective methods that will provide the highest level of protection possible without slowing down the client's program or productivity.
Our hosted spam filter takes emails through a six-step process to ensure that only clean messages arrive in the end user's mail box. Messages that trigger red flags in our system are sent to our spam trap, or email quarantine, for administrators to look at and review.
With NESS, you'll have access to quality support from our customer service representatives, and our affordable pricing makes the system easy on your company's budget as well.
Outbound Email Filtering: The reputation of a company can quickly be jeopardized when offensive email or important data is leaked to outside sources. Companies are responsible for keeping their networks clean, and are ultimately accountable for the actions of their employees.
Benefits of Outbound Filtering
Ntiva's perimeter-based outbound filtering service cleans internal email before it exists a corporate network, reducing the risk of improper routing, non-compliant messaging and misuse of company resources.
- Reduces the chance of regulatory violations and penalties
- Provides information asset tracking tools
- Stops abuse of email resources
- Improves email deliverability
- Reduces processing load on email servers
Filtering Tools - Attachment Filtering
Large attachments can take a toll on company bandwidth and internal email servers. Attachments are also known to contain viruses and other malicious content, often without awareness from the sender. Ntiva's Outbound Messaging Service allows clients to create custom attachment guidelines to meet the needs of specific company policies.
- Blocks delivery of large, malevolent files
- Prevents emailing of specific file formats based on company policy
- Reduce the threats of sending viruses or worms to outside clients, vendors, etc.
Filter Tools - Content Filtering
Improper content can cause liability problems if employees believe the company is failing to protect them from offensive information. Ntiva's Outbound Messaging Service provides the tools to monitor the appropriateness of outgoing email against company policy.
- User defined word and phrase monitoring and routing tools
- Provides tools to monitor and control for company-sensitive information and its distribution to outside sources
- Policy violation actions controlled by Administrators (copy, forward, delete, etc...)
Filter Tools - Disclaimer/Signature Placement
Company emails that contain uniform disclaimers add a layer of protection against legal action. Lack of a disclaimer can open the door to potential liability problems resulting from regulatory violations or breach of contract. In addition, well written email signatures convey professionalism and reliability to outside recipients. Signatures can also be used to relay pertinent contact information such as company address, website or tagline.
- Reduces the chance of regulatory violations and penalties
- Reduces the chance of lawsuits
- Deters people from seeking legal compensation
- Increase image of professionalism
